A tip of the hat to where we came from and what we stand for.
The very first day Seattle’s Pike Place Market opened in the summer of 1907, hundreds of eager customers snatched up all the farm-fresh goods in a matter of hours. By noon, there wasn’t a scrap of produce left as the farmers’ wagons began to roll out.
When we set up shop here in 1971, we knew our success would depend on how well we could cater to this insatiable appetite for freshness. Naturally we took up this challenge with gusto, offering great coffee day in and day out.
Pike Place™ Roast is as much a celebration of our proud history at the market as a heartfelt toast to our discerning customers. We created this blend to meet a wide range of tastes. Whether you prefer it straight up or complemented with milk and sugar, we promise a satisfying cup that’s rich in flavour and balanced enough to enjoy every day.

Intensely earthy and aromatic
Like the tiger indigenous to Sumatra, this coffee is big, bold, unpredictable and utterly captivating. No other coffee has its distinctive earthy aroma and lingering low notes. The heavy, full body and incredibly concentrated herbal spice notes are the hallmarks of a great Sumatra and the pride of our most seasoned roasters.

Well-balanced and lively
When we opened our first store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, we wanted a House Blend that captured the signature expression of our roasting style—glistening, dark chestnut beans loaded with flavour. Years later, it’s still why people come through our doors around the world. House Blend has a wonderful balance of body, crisp acidity, nut and cocoa notes, and a touch of sweetness from the roast.

Flavours of cocoa and soft spice
In the world of coffee, Antigua is a rare jewel, like the great wine-growing regions of France. Beyond the cobblestone streets and brightly coloured homes, Antigua’s outskirts reveal its most extraordinary feature. Three surrounding volcanoes infuse the soil with ash, nourishing the coffee. Notes of deep cocoa, soft florals and spices mingle in a round, balanced cup of elegance—a true taste of this heavenly place.

Velvety mouthfeel, roasty-sweet. Estima means “care” in Spanish, and this coffee truly honours its farmers. We blended the finest Fairtrade Certified™ coffees from East Africa and Latin America for this bold, versatile coffee that’s great brewed and great as espresso–full-bodied, balanced and roasty sweet with great depth and a velvety mouthfeel. Always available in our stores as freshly filtered coffee.

Berry and spice notes with a dark cocoa finish. Here’s our most exotic and unpredictable coffee, with flavours of deep port wine, berry fruit, warm earthen spices and cocoa. It is grown on thousands of coffee farms, mostly very small farms. At its best, Sanani offers a taste experience no coffee can match. As a result, Yemen coffees are of particular interest to coffee buyers and connoisseurs. Mocha refers to the historic port in Yemen where coffees from this region were shipped. With their natural cocoa flavor, over time coffee and chocolate have become associated with the term “mocha.” Yemen rests on the Indian Ocean. Sanani refers to the coffee-growing region around Sana’a, the capital of Yemen.

Light-bodied, smoky, intense.
French is all about the roast. It’s our darkest and boldest and not for the faint of heart. We roast the beans to their edge for a singular smoky flavour. And that’s the French Roast calling card. Normally you wouldn’t expect such a bang from a coffee with low acidity and light body, but this is no ordinary brew. It’s a delectably smoky cup, intense and uncompromising.

Well balanced and lively. When we opened our first store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, we wanted a House Blend that captured the signature expression of our roasting style—glistening, dark chestnut beans loaded with flavour. This decaffeinated version has the same wonderful balance of body, crisp acidity, nut and cocoa notes, and roasty sweetness as our regular House.

Medium-bodied, smooth and well-balanced with a nutty flavour from the Nariño region of Colombia. This coffee has been part of the Starbucks lineup since 1990, when coffee buyers were first offered samples of the coffee produced at a new mill. They agreed that it was the best Colombian coffee they had ever tasted and it has delighted customers ever since. This coffee is from the province of Nariño, a rugged, mountainous area known for its active volcanoes and natural beauty. “Supremo” refers to the largest bean size classification for grading and sorting coffee in Colombia.

Rich, smooth and slightly sweet. A passion for all things Italian—including good food and great coffee—inspired this full-bodied blend of Latin American and Asia/Pacific coffees, with Italian Roast (a dark roast blend) added for depth. It’s rich and well-balanced with a dark cocoa texture and a roasty sweetness, like the flavour of a fire-roasted marshmallow after you pull off the darkened cap.
