When you care about what you do, it shows
We’re proud that all of our Starbucks® Espresso is 100% Fairtrade certified in the UK and Ireland. This means that all of the coffee in your cappuccinos and lattes is 100% Fairtrade.
Before you wrap your hands around a hot cup of delicious Starbucks® coffee, the coffee itself has passed through many caring hands. And to guarantee it arrives in the very best condition, we operate with a simple yet demanding principle; ‘everyone must take good care of the coffee.’
Whether it’s the barista who serves you in our coffeehouse, the roaster who brings out the full potential of each coffee bean, the coffee tasters who determine whether the beans make the grade, or the farmers and workers in coffee growing communities who pick the coffee cherries, we aim to inspire everyone to care about the work they do. At the end of the day, it’s all about producing quality coffees for you to enjoy.
That’s why we’re proud to support Fairtrade. It’s not just about feeling good about buying our coffee in an ethical way. It’s about supporting a system where farmers and workers are rewarded for caring about their craft and their community – and inspired to learn and develop good practices that produce high quality coffee beans in socially and environmentally responsible ways.

I had a starbucks soya latte today- it is the best coffee I have ever had from the deliciously tasty froth on the top- to the sweetness and perfect flavour it is my daily must have and I wouldn’t trade my daily *bucks for anything- it is amazing!!!!
Whilst I love the fact you use Fairtrade coffee, what about the milk you use? Is it locally sourced? Are UK dairy farmers getting a fair price? When I look behind the barista counter, it looks as though supermarket milk is being purchased (this may not be the case but this is how it appears to the customer). As Starbucks uses so much milk, shouldn’t you be looking to set up a Fairtrade agreement with the dairy farmers directly? And if you already do, tell us about it!
what percentage of the money from the coffee goes to the farmers
where is the milk scorced as it looks like it is the milk from supermarkets and we are all aware that they get a low price from supermarkets, as you will use litres of the stuff an hour, shouldnt you set up special deals with local community milk farmers so they get a fair price too?
very good point there callum!
how much money goes to the workers and in 2015 will the milk be fair trade as well?
i think tht the fair trade is very clever and its a good idea xx
i think fair trade is an amazing company and starbuciks is great coffee
I hada starbucks coffee today and it tasted like burnt mud, yum! The quality of the coffee is pretty bad and i’m very dubious about their fairtrade claims, seems i’m not the only one.
“Starbucks has been a target of protests on issues such as fair-trade policies, labor relations, environmental impact, political views, and anti-competitive practices.”
THE COFFEE IS MINT
[...] do my bit for Fairtrade – Starbucks coffee is all Fairtrade! And I contribute a lot – I am guessing I have bought that [...]

I LOVE THE COFFEE!!
So all of the coffee is certified fairtrade? If so, good work!
I think you should introduce more organic ranges and support local produce more, I definitely agree with coming out and being open about what prices you pay for the milk etc.
